Sempé Extra Grande Réserve Armagnac comes from Sempé, one of the best-known Armagnac houses, founded in 1934 in Aignan in the Gers. This Extra Grande Réserve is a blend of very old Armagnacs from the Ténarèze, the central sub-region known for structured, spicy brandies, aged a minimum of twenty years in oak and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The nose is a rich bouquet of toasted oak, vanilla and dried fruit with spice and floral notes. The palate is velvety, with dark chocolate, caramel and a subtle smokiness over prune and fig, and the finish is long with the nutty rancio of mature Armagnac. It is a brandy for the slowest of sipping, neat.Presented in a hand-crafted crystal decanter, individually numbered, this 750ml bottle is a collector's Armagnac and a landmark gift.
